Women’s Clothing

So let’s talk about women’s clothing . . .

like swimsuits . . . back to school outfits . . . Olympic athletes’ attires . . . new fall styles . . .

Now let’s talk about what scripture says about spiritual clothing . . .

Then the Spirit of the Lord clothed Gideon with power. He blew a ram’s horn as a call to arms, and the men of the clan of Abiezer came to him. – Judges 6:34 NLT
(God to used Gideon to deliver/save Israel)

You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, – Psalms 30:11 (David)

Praise the Lord, my soul. Lord my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendor and majesty. He wraps himself in light as with a garment. – Psalm 104:1-2

I am overwhelmed with joy in the Lord my God! For he has dressed me with the clothing of salvation and draped me in a robe of righteousness. I am like a bridegroom dressed for his wedding or a bride with her jewels. – Isaiah 61:10

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. – Proverbs 31:25

Then I witnessed in heaven an event of great significance. I saw a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon beneath her feet, and a crown of twelve stars on her head. – Revelations 12:1
(The woman clothes in the sun represents God’s faithful people.)

I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high. Luke 24:49 NIV
(Jesus speaking to His disciples one final time and referencing the Holy Spirit.)

for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. – Galatians 3:27

Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. – Colossians 3:12

Bottom Line:

Like my shirt in this workout, Jesus loves the Hell out of us!

He desires to take off the lies, the fear, the worries, the uncertainties, the struggles, the burdens, the weariness . . .

He wants to put on or clothe us with His love, joy, salvation, power, light, strength, dignity, mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience . . .

Imagine walking into a room wearing that!

Imagine going to a pool party dressed in that getup!

Imagine starting the new school year with that kind of outfit!

Now make that image your reality!

Let’s get His kind of makeover!

Jesus is ready each & every day to cloth you with ALL that He is!

Grab your light hand weights and water and join me for this 40-minute workout. We start with scripture and end with a ‘be still and know’ time as well!

Full-Body Flow: Heb 4:16

I’ve found great comfort in this scripture over the past couple of weeks, processing each phrase and praising God for His position, power, mercy, grace, and strength. The most beautiful part is how all these words are true despite my struggles, failures, and weaknesses.

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Hebrews 4:16

This passage is even more engaging in The Passion Translation – ‘So now we draw near freely and boldly to where grace is enthroned, to receive mercy’s kiss and discover the grace we urgently need to strengthen us in our time of weakness.’

In response to this scripture, we tried something new during our time together Thursday morning – a full-body flow to Hebrews 4:16. Please join us via the video below. Be intentional to speak the truth out loud while going through the motions and do so several times, breathing in His mercy, grace, and strength.

Radiant

‘Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces will never be covered with shame.’

Psalm 34:5

When I work out at home, I typically select a 30-minute full-body workout in YouTube because that’s about the max time that fits into this crazy daily season. 🤪

Realizing my reality may look similar to many of yours, here’s a new Holy Barre workout – 30-min of full-body, faith-filled moves and music!

While the focus of this one is Psalm 34:5, it is full of all things ‘Holy Barre‘. So if you’ve got some friends and family who might enjoy it, please share this post or link!

Let’s focus on His truth and His temple as we burn bright, better together! Grab light hand weights and water. Find your space to move and worship. And press play! 🤩

Broken Worship

Grab some water, a mat, and a band or light hand weights and join us for our latest full-body Holy Barre workout! (If you don’t have a band, simply go through the movements with light hand weights or empty hands.)

During this workout, we step into ‘broken worship’. Brokenness is all around – in ourselves, our families, our communities, and our world. Due to broken relationships, broken bodies, broken souls, and broken peace, we all are drawn towards a state fo complete surrender and defeat as we experience hardships. Thankfully, His power is made perfect in our weakness. And despite of or because of our brokenness, we can worship the King of Kings for true satisfaction, joy, peace, and strength!

Let’s break down Romans 12:1

Therefore, I urge you, in view of God’s mercy . . . ‘ In Romans 11, Paul discusses our disobedience and God’s response of mercy!

‘ . . . to offer your bodies . . . ‘ In other words, to ‘dedicate all tangible things’

‘ . . . as a living sacrifice . . . ‘ We daily make a choice who/what to worship, and as followers of Christ, we daily die to self and sacrifice our desires and struggles in surrender to His love.

‘ . . . holy and pleasing to God. This is your true and proper worship. . . ‘

Ask yourself these questions:

  • What/who do I worship?
  • Do I trust God enough to chose broken worship and surrender?
  • Do I believe He will respond with more than I can ask or imagine?
  • Does this choice/action/thought please God’s heart?
  • Does this choice/action/thought satisfy my soul?

Friends, we are broken . . . and it’s beautiful. For further truth, read Romans 8:31-39

Beloved friends, what should be our proper response to God’s marvelous mercies? To surrender yourselves to God to be his sacred, living sacrifices. And live in holiness, experiencing all that delights his heart. For this becomes your genuine expression of worship.

Romans 12:1

Be Still, Savoring His Creation

Over the past several weeks, we’ve been studying various truths about creation and the symbolism presented in Scripture. As a visual learner and lover of nature, I so appreciate the intentional teaching we can find about His desire for new life, freedom, and beauty through Jesus Christ!

For example, we’ve recently:

  • Held two outdoor park events at Hafer Park.
  • Been reminded of His desire for us to get back to ‘good’, the original beautiful, good design as children of God.
  • Prayed Psalm 51:10 for a clean heart and right spirit.
  • Completed a reading plan about remaining attached to the Vine and bearing good fruit.
  • Continued our pursuit to burn bright, better together!

This week we focused on John 3:5. The verse is quite simple yet filled with powerful truth through the imagery of water and spirit.

In researching this statement by Jesus, it’s linked to these scriptures as well:

Genesis 1:1-2: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

Ezekiel 36:25-30: I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. Then you will live in the land I gave your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God. I will save you from all your uncleanness. I will call for the grain and make it plentiful and will not bring famine upon you. I will increase the fruit of the trees and the crops of the field, so that you will no longer suffer disgrace among the nations because of famine.

Titus 3:4-8: But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.

Please read through these scriptures once more, praying over and processing the imagery and power of the Living Water and His Spirit in us.

Finally, take 15 minutes to be still and be loved, listening to this brief podcast focused on John 3:5 – Water & Spirit with Alisa Keeton.

Better Together

While I’m thrilled about the exciting growth and opportunities of Holy Barre, we can’t lose sight of a foundational aspect of this faith-based ministry – WE ARE TRULY BETTER TOGETHER!

Holy Barre began as and is a LifeGroup, based on a desire for women to meet regularly for authentic community and connection. Now the workout and worship are wonderful and bring lots of value as well, but we are designed to do life with others. These real relationships bring encouragement, strength, accountability, joy, support, and grace as we navigate life together. Being a part of a small group has played a huge role in my life, my marriage, and my family. And I know there are many of you out there who can say the same!

So while we meet regularly to workout and worship, let’s not miss out on the opportunities for true connection and community. Because we are better together as we burn bright and pursue a life of health, wholeness, and holiness!

Beginning this summer, there will be three opportunities each week to join us in person. In addition, you can continue to join our weekly Bible reading plans as well as connect anytime through GroupMe, Facebook, and Instagram.

To stay up to date with all things, save this webpage as it’ll always contain the latest and greatest – https://holybarre.org/join-us/.

Now before you jump onto the next thing in your inbox or on your phone, read over these scriptures outloud. Ask yourself if you believe them, obey them, and live them . . . if you say yes, your life will be changed for the better . . . together!

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

Ephesians 4:16

How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony!

Psalm 133:1

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

Hebrews 10:24-25

Get Back to Good!

Ladies, we were created in His image, just as it says in Genesis. And our Heavenly Father describes us as ‘good’. Our original design was ‘very good’. When you look at the original Hebrew translation of ‘good’, it actually means so much more than how we use the word today.

Good, as He describes us, translates as beautiful, best, better, bountiful, cheerful, at ease, fair, in favor, glad, gracious, joyful, kind, loving, merry, most pleasant, pleasure, precious, prosperous, ready, sweet, wealthy, well-favored, and more!

So as you worship and workout, focus on who HE says you are! And HE is desiring for us to get back to ‘good’ – holy, healthy, and whole – and believe that we are ‘good’!

Romans 8:20 states, ‘For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.’

Ephesians 3:20 prays ‘Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.’ Grab your light weights and join us as we burn bright, better together!
