Whew! Between a mass shooting at an elementary school and one at an orthopedic hospital in OK, my heart is especially heavy and my soul shaken. Hugging my crew even tighter and clinging even more tightly to the truth of Hebrews Chapter 1.
This summer in Holy Barre, we’re slowly going through the book of Hebrews, savoring one chapter a week. This week’s truths provide our firm foundation as we move forward in a broken world. Action is needed. Change is needed. Love is needed. Light is needed. Let’s burn bright, better together!
Jesus shines in the darkness, bringing His truth to light. And while we don’t understand the happenings of our world, He remains on the throne of the Kingdom to which we truly belong.
The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
hebrews 1:3
The Lord is just and righteous. He hates wickedness and mourns with us, while also providing joy beyond understanding.
But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.”
Hebrews 1:8-9
So let’s move our bodies, hearts, minds, and souls towards His light and love, reflecting His radiance. Let’s draw near to His Spirit and pursue the things of the Lord. It’ll make us uncomfortable. It’ll stir us to action. It’ll cause change. And it’ll be for His glory alone.
